Our commercial Photography Services

Why don't we provide specific pricing?

It's very simple.  Commercial photography is a different animal from "consumer" photography, which can usually be easily broken down into discreet packages and prices.

With commercial photography, there are an almost infinite variety of moving parts, all of which can effect the bid price.  Besides the photography time, there are other crew members, services, and expenses to factor in, not the least of which is licensing... the fee charged for HOW images are to be used.

With each job request that we receive, we careful consider all of the moving parts that will be required to provide the stellar quality that we're known for.

Some examples of the different factors that play into the bid process are outlined below.

Pre-Production

Pre-production is an extremely important step in the creative process, as it allows us to flesh out precisely what you're looking for.. from project details to planning for locations, props, etc., this step is absolutely crucial.

The old adage is very apropos here... "Why is there never enough money to do it right the first time, but always enough money to do it over?"

We like to get it right the first time... and that requires thorough pre-production planning.

Production

"The Main Event" is the focal point for the planning we do in Pre-Production, that's for sure... but it is far from the whole enchilada that we think it is.

Sure, there are a lot of moving parts... which is why God created Producers, assistants, and technicians... in addition to skilled and talented photographers.  But it is far from being all that goes into a production.

Post-Production

After we have planned thoroughly, and executed flawlessly, we still have to through the marvelous images we have created, and edit them in post-production.  We scrutinize them under a microscope, correcting the smallest of issues, ensuring that the finished product will be everything we promised.

Sometimes the post-production is quite involved, such as taking different images and combining them together into a composite in a bit of photographic magic.

Fortunately, we are experts in the post-production process!

Licensing

One of the critical elements of any commercial project that is often overlooked is the licensing of the images created.

We know what you're thinking.  "We're already paying for the image creation, why do we have to pay for licensing too?"

It's surprisingly simple.  Production costs pay for the photographer's time.  Not the image.  The law considers the image a separate thing from the time it took to create it.  Kind of like a piece of artwork... you can own the painting... but not the IDEA or IMAGE represented on the painting... the artist can still sell and profit from the IMAGE they created that is reflected in the painting  you purchased.

It all goes back to copyright.  In every case except for hiring a photographer to work for you full-time as a salaried employee, the photographer owns the image.  They simply allow you to use it.
